Getting Started

Campaign Monitor for Salesforce is an integration built by Beaufort 12. Our application allows you to personalize emails and report on customer behaviour by seamlessly syncing data between Campaign Monitor and your Salesforce org.

Campaign Monitor allows you to design and send personalized email campaigns. Once a campaign has been sent you can view the results directly in Salesforce. Should a person unsubscribe from an email both systems will be updated.

The video below is a quick start guide on how to use Campaign Monitor for Salesforce. There are also fully explained Steps below.

If you are new to Campaign Monitor please ensure you have completed the set up - this includes a) verifying your account and b) optionally setting up your email domain. If you have questions about Campaign Monitor, please reach out to them directly (Support Site).

This process has four parts to it:

  1. Creating a subscriber list

  2. Adding your Salesforce records to a Campaign Monitor subscriber list

  3. Creating and sending an email campaign

  4. View the results of the campaign

If you already have a subscriber list in Campaign Monitor you can skip to step 2.

1. Creating a subscriber list

To create a new Campaign Monitor subscriber list from your Salesforce account:

  1. In Salesforce, click the App menu at the top right, then select Campaign Monitor.

  2. Click the Subscriber lists tab (this is the Salesforce tab, not the Campaign Monitor screen).

  3. Click New.

  4. Enter a Name for the list.

  5. Click Create list.

Once you have clicke, the subscriber list will be instantly created in both Salesforce and Campaign Monitor.

2. Adding Salesforce records

The best way to import your Salesforce records into Campaign Monitor is via our Import Wizard.

  1. Select the Subscriber list you want to work with by going to the Subscriber list tab.  Then click the Label of the list i.e. SL-0001.

  2. Now click Import wizard then click the New import button.

  3. The wizard will appear asking you to select between a Salesforce report, list or SOQL statement.

  4. Next map Salesforce fields to Campaign Monitor custom fields.  If you already have custom fields in Campaign Monitor, these will appear.  If not you can create them from this screen. If you choose to map a Salesforce contact or Lead ID we will use this to match records instead of an email address.

  5. The wizard allows you to immediately start the import, set up a schedule for future runs or both.  Scheduling the import allows the integration to automatically add and update records in Campaign Monitor i.e. if you would like all new leads to be automatically added to Campaign Monitor our scheduling feature will automate this.

Once started you can view it’s progress on the Import wizard screen. When the import is completed the subscribers will be in your subscriber list and ready to use in your mass email/campaign.

3. Creating and sending an email campaign from Campaign Monitor

You can access Campaign Monitor directly in Salesforce via the Campaign Monitor tab. To create and send an email campaign, refer to this Support.

4. Viewing the results in Salesforce

You can also run Salesforce reports and dashboards on the email tracking records.

Once you have sent your email campaign, navigate to a Salesforce contact or Lead to see your Email tracking stats (opens, clicks etc), run reports and view your results dashboards.
