What does a remote site error mean when connecting a Mailchimp account?
If you receive an error when connecting a new Mailchimp account in Mailchimp Settings that you can't automatically create the needed Remote Site, that means the user who is connecting the account doesn't have the permission we need to set up the connection.
You have two options:
- A Salesforce system admin can connect the account instead. Note that you can assign a different user as the record owner in this process.
- An admin can manually create the Remote Site first, using the information provided in the error.
Manually create a Remote Site:
- Get your Mailchimp account's datacenter instance from the maintenance log created when the error occurs: https://jmp.sh/cpGNLmPs
The datacenter will also be listed in the original error as "Use datacenter ##." For example, "us16" on this error. https://jmp.sh/E37W8O2x, so your link would be https://us16.api.mailchimp.com) - In setup, search for and open Remote Site Settings.
- Click New Remote Site
- Add the remote site information following this pattern, but use your specific API datacenter number, like US16 or US1 in the name and url: https://jmp.sh/bQVLbnQc and save.
That remote site allows the integration to access your Mailchimp account from Salesforce so that we can sync your data. Salesforce documentation on Remote Sites.
