How do I create accounts in Salesforce?
You will see a dedicated field mapping screen within a Salesforce Mailchimp audience record. This allows you to map Mailchimp fields to corresponding Salesforce records. Additionally, you can choose to create new Salesforce records, like leads or contacts, based on Mailchimp data. If you select a contact, you can also create a Salesforce account.
The process of creating a Salesforce account begins with creating the associated contact. If you’ve mapped fields like First Name or Last Name from Mailchimp, this information is stored within the newly created Salesforce contact and becomes available for use when creating the account. This ensures that the relevant contact details are consistent when creating the Salesforce account.
You can customize the Salesforce account name using hardcoded text or mapped contact fields. For example, you could enter a pattern like “[LastName] Household.” This is particularly useful for managing family or household accounts.
If you want to use a field like [LastName] in the account name pattern, you must ensure they are first mapped in the contact column below. You can then use the Salesforce API names of the fields in brackets, such as [FirstName] for the first name field or [custom_field__c] for custom fields.
Keep in mind that if you choose a specific naming pattern (e.g., “[LastName] Household”), this pattern is applied globally across all audiences where you have the create account option enabled.
Any changes you make to the account name pattern on one audience will automatically be reflected across all other locations where the pattern is used, maintaining consistency throughout. This of course only applies if you have the create option enabled on more than one audience.
