What happens when I use Sync Answers, Validate Mappings or Validate rules?

We offer several ways to test or refresh data outside the Primary or Full syncs.

‍Sync Answers

This is found on the Question/Answer section of each event, under the pull-down menu. It fully refreshes data on all our Salesforce standard objects using data from the current event and your mappings. (Sync Answers)

- Refreshes that event’s data from Eventbrite to our custom objects (including attendee answers).
- Then runs a full sync for that event only. This includes re-doing contact/lead, campaign, opportunity, and answer mappings.
- Not instant — Wait until batches finish (especially the answers step), then open the Lead or Contact to confirm updates.
- Uses the Mappings from Eventbrite Settings and any Answer Mappings from the current event.

Validate Rules on an Order

On an event's Orders/Attendees list, you can validate a single order. This checks for mapping errors and will update records in Salesforce if successful. (Validate Rules)

- Runs matching and mapping rules for that one order in Salesforce.
- Will update order-related objects and fields per mappings for that order (including opportunity steps if you have enabled that mapping).
- The validation panel will tell you when it is done and if it encountered any error.  

Validate Rules on an Attendee

Similar to validating the order, you can validate a single attendee. This checks for mapping errors and will update records in Salesforce if successful. (Validate Rules)

- Runs matching and mapping rules, campaign member updates, and any custom answer mappings for that one order in Salesforce.
- Will update that Lead or Contact (and related campaign or member data) when mappings apply.
- The validation panel will tell you when it is done and if it encountered any error.

Validate Mappings

This is found on Eventbrite Settings Mappings and is a tool to check mappings before they are put into use. (Testing Mappings)

- Only tests your mapping setup, using sample data only.
- Does not update real attendees, orders, or sync from Eventbrite. Does not replace Sync Answers or Validate Rules.
- Use it to get pass/fail style feedback before a real sync.
