What do the fields on the Dropbox objects in Salesforce mean?
Dropbox for Salesforce does not copy your files into Salesforce. Files, folders and share links are read live from Dropbox, so they never use Salesforce storage. The integration stores only a few records that connect Salesforce to Dropbox, and you can use these in Salesforce reports. API names are shown without the namespace; in your org they start with dbx__.
You can also see each field's help text in Setup > Object Manager > [object] > Fields & Relationships.
Dropbox Folder Mapping
One record per Salesforce record that has a Dropbox folder. A mapping is created the first time someone opens the Dropbox File Manager on a record, or when the Create Folder for Record Flow action runs.
• Mapping Number (Name): auto-number
• Salesforce Record ID and Object Type: the record the folder belongs to
• Dropbox Folder ID: Dropbox's permanent folder ID, which stays the same if the folder is renamed or moved
• Dropbox Folder Path: where the folder sits in Dropbox
• Workspace: the workspace the folder is under
• Connected User: the Salesforce user whose Dropbox account owns the folder
• Sync Status: the application sets Active, Folder Deleted or Error. Broken is a legacy value retained for compatibility; the application no longer sets it.
• Last Sync Date: when the folder was last checked against Dropbox
• Error Message: the last error, cleared when the folder works again
A report on Folder Mappings filtered to Sync Status not equal to Active is a quick way to find every folder link that needs attention.
Dropbox Workspace
One record per workspace, the root Dropbox folder your Salesforce folders are created under.
• Workspace Name (Name)
• Dropbox Path: the root folder path, for example /Salesforce Documents
• Dropbox Folder Id: Dropbox's ID for the root folder
• Folder Type: Regular Folder or Team Folder
• Is Default: the default workspace for new folders
• Created By User: who set the workspace up
• Org Id: internal field
Dropbox Access Request
One record each time a user asks for access to a colleague's private record folder.
• Request Number (Name): auto-number
• Requester and Approver: who asked, and the folder owner who decides
• Folder Mapping, Record ID, Record Name, Folder Path: the folder requested
• Requester Dropbox Email: the Dropbox account the folder is shared with
• Status: Pending, Processing, Approved or Declined
• Access Level: Editor (can edit) or Viewer (can view)
• Decided Date and Decline Reason: when and why a decision was made
• Shared Folder ID: Dropbox's shared folder ID once access is granted
• Last Error: internal field
