What are workspaces and how can I manage them?

📋 Summary

Workspaces are what we call linked root Dropbox folders. Typically most companies will have just one. But this article shows how you can have many and how you would manage them.

💡 Answer

What is a Workspace?

Dropbox for Salesforce requires at least one root folder to function, this is called a workspace. You will be prompted to set this up when you first connect to Dropbox for Salesforce. Within the root folder, the integration automatically builds a folder structure based on the object name and then the record name.

For example: Salesforce Documents > Accounts > Burlington Arcade.

Single Workspace Setup:

Most users connect Salesforce to Dropbox with one root folder or workspace. This provides a simple, organized structure where all Salesforce records create folders using a standard structure e.g. Salesforce Documents > Object > Record

Managing Multiple Workspaces:

You can connect more than one Dropbox root folder / workspace for different use cases. To manage your workspaces, simply click the dropdown on the icon bar on the right side of the component.

Switching Between Workspaces:

When you have more than one workspace configured, a new picklist field will appear on the Salesforce component. This picklist allows you to easily toggle between your different workspaces depending on which root folder structure you need to work with.
