What happens when I disconnect a Mailchimp Account?

When a Mailchimp account is disconnected on Sync Settings (Mailchimp Settings tab), we launch background jobs to delete our custom objects and configuration in Salesforce, including:

  • Mailchimp account, audience, member, mailing records
  • Optionally, if enabled, locally stored email activity
  • Import wizards (but not their source reports, lists or campaigns)
  • Field mapping for any audiences in the account
  • The secure data we store for authenticating the connection

These jobs can take a while if you have large lists or are storing a long email history. We may split up the email history job to avoid conflicting with the primary sync. To avoid this, temporary pause the primary sync schedule on Mailchimp Settings. Apex Job logs in Salesforce setup will record the deletion process.
