Can I create contacts or leads from new Mailchimp members?

Typically, records are created in Salesforce and pushed to Mailchimp using our Data Wizard. However, it is also possible for the sync to create Salesforce Contacts or Leads based on incoming Mailchimp data. But in short you can create leads or contacts via our field mappings screen. The first step is about matching so ensure you are happy with the default i.e. find a match using the selected email field.  This is how we will check to see if the record exists and if not create it.  Just below that is the create records option, by default the create option is turned off.  To unlock click the edit button on the top right and select what type of record you want to create.  Once enabled you will see a series of Mailchimp fields that you can map to a corresponding field in Salesforce.  Optionally when you click create you can choose if the mapping should only update when we create a record.  Next to each mapping there is a create only check box simply check this if you want us to only use the value when we first create a Salesforce record. In addition we have default field mappings .  This allows you to set a value when we create a record for example the lead source could be defaulted to Mailchimp.
