How can I preview mapping rules?

You can preview your Mailchimp to Salesforce mapping rules for a single Mailchimp member before they run. There are two ways in, both on the Salesforce Audience record.

1. From the Field Mappings screen:

Open the audience, go to Field Mappings, and on the Mailchimp to Salesforce tab click Preview Mapping Rules. Search for a Mailchimp member by email and click Search and Check. The button is unavailable while you're editing the mappings, so save first.

2. From the Members list:

Open the audience's Members list, open the row menu for a member and choose Preview Mapping Rules. The preview opens with that member already selected.

The preview dry-runs your rules for that member and shows what would happen: whether a Contact, Lead or Person Account would be created, updated or linked, and a table of each mapped Mailchimp field with the new value and, for updates, the old Salesforce value it would replace. Nothing is saved unless you click Apply Mapping Rules, which commits exactly what the preview showed.

Note: The preview covers the Mailchimp to Salesforce direction only. Salesforce to Mailchimp mappings don't have a sample-record preview.
