Does Eventbrite for Salesforce support UTM tracking?
If you are used to tracking campaign performance with UTM parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, etc.), you might be wondering how that works with Eventbrite. The short answer is that Eventbrite does not use Google UTM system. UTM parameters are not passed to us via the API. Instead, they have their own Tracking Links feature, and our integration syncs that data into Salesforce for you.
The Solution
Eventbrite offers a simpler tracking system called Tracking Links. Here is how it works:
- In your Eventbrite dashboard, go to Marketing > Tracking Links and create a named tracking link (e.g., facebook-spring-campaign, newsletter-jan)
- Eventbrite generates a unique URL with an embedded tracking code
- When someone purchases a ticket through that link, the tracking link name is recorded against the attendee
Our integration syncs this tracking data into the following fields on the Eventbrite Attendee object in Salesforce:
- Affiliate - The name of the Tracking Link used by the attendee at purchase
- Invited By - Shows if the attendee was referred by another attendee
- Promotional Code - Captures any promo/discount code applied at checkout
