What do the fields on the Campaign Monitor objects in Salesforce mean?
Campaign Monitor for Salesforce stores your data in four main custom objects, all of which you can use in Salesforce reports. Below is what each field holds. API names are shown without the namespace; in your org they start with wbsendit__.
You can also see each field's help text in Setup > Object Manager > [object] > Fields & Relationships.
Email Tracking History
One record per subscriber interaction with an email. See the email tracking guide for how this data is synced and how long it is kept.
• Campaign (Name): the campaign name
• Activity: Sent, Opened, Clicked, Bounced or Unsubscribed
• Activity Date: when the interaction happened
• Email Type: whether the email came from a Campaign or a Journey
• Email Address: the subscriber's email
• Contact / Lead: the matched Salesforce record
• Campaign Monitor Campaign: lookup to the campaign record
• Campaign Id: the Campaign Monitor campaign ID, not a Salesforce Campaign ID
• URL Clicked: the link clicked, for Clicked activity
• Bounce Type and Bounce Reason: Hard or Soft, plus the reason Campaign Monitor gave
• IP Address, City, Region, Country Code, Country Name, Location: where the open or click came from, as reported by Campaign Monitor
• Activity Report: a link to the matching report inside the app
• Compound Key: internal unique key that prevents duplicate activity records
Campaign Monitor Campaign
One record per email campaign synced from Campaign Monitor.
Campaign details:
• Campaign Name, Subject, From Name, From Email, Reply To, Sent Date, Tags
• Client / Client Name: the Campaign Monitor client the campaign belongs to
• Salesforce Campaign: optional lookup to a Salesforce Campaign
• Web Version URL / Web Version Text URL: links to the email as sent
• World View Email Tracking: link to Campaign Monitor's map view of opens and clicks
Engagement totals (best for reporting, taken from Campaign Monitor's campaign summary):
• Num Recipients, Num Opens, Num Unique Opens, Num Clicks, Num Bounced, Num Unsubscribed, Num Spam Complaints, Num Forwards, Num Likes, Num Mentions
• % Opened and % Clicked
Sync fields (used internally):
• Campaign ID, Last Synced, Job Id, Total Recipients and the Last Open, Click, Bounced and Unsubscribe Count fields. The sync uses these to plan how it downloads activity. Use the Num fields above for reporting instead.
Subscriber List Members
One record per email address on each subscriber list.
• Subscriber List: the list the member belongs to
• Email and Full Name: as stored in Campaign Monitor
• State: Active, Unconfirmed, Unsubscribed, Bounced, Deleted or Suppressed
• Contact / Lead: the matched Salesforce record
• List Joined Date and Activity Date: see what the date fields mean
• Sent, Opened, Clicked, Bounced: the number of campaigns with each activity for this email address, calculated from the Email Tracking History in Salesforce. They reflect only the history you keep, and cover all campaigns for that email, not just this list
• Open Rate: Opened ÷ (Sent − Bounced). Click Rate: Clicked ÷ Sent
• Consent To Track and Consent To SMS: the subscriber's consent settings in Campaign Monitor
• Reads Email With: the email client the subscriber uses
• IP Address: the IP address used when signing up
• Import Source / Initial Import Source: how the record was added to Campaign Monitor from Salesforce
• Segment Codes: segment codes applied by report or list view imports
• Preference: the subscriber's Campaign Monitor custom field values, stored as JSON
• Subscriber Id, List Id, Compound Key, Job Id, Audit: internal fields. Subscriber Id holds the matched Contact or Lead ID
Queue Items
An internal work queue, not intended for reporting. Each record holds a batch of pending changes (subscribes, updates, removals) or transactional emails waiting to be sent to Campaign Monitor.
• Queue Item Name: auto-number (QI-…)
• Job Id: the type of queue, e.g. BATCH or TXN_BATCH
• Details: the queued requests, stored as JSON
Records are deleted once processed, and anything left over is cleared after about two days.
Note: if Queue Items keep building up, the background jobs may not be running, so please contact support.
