How can I work with more than one email address for the same person?
In Emma, there is no way to have a single audience member with multiple emails. Each unique email becomes its own audience member record.
If you have a Salesforce contact or lead with multiple email addresses and want to create and audience member for each email, the best option is to use our import wizard and sync the two emails via separate imports.
When your import source includes the contact or lead ID field, we will automatically create a custom field in Emma called Salesforce ID for mapping. During the primary sync moving forward, we will:
- Use that Salesforce ID instead of the standard Email field to find the matching contact or lead
- Link all the Emma Audience Members correctly to the contact or lead and field mappings will flow to those correctly
- Link Email tracking records to that contact or lead
For example, if you want to subscribe one Salesforce contact with two email addresses (Email and a custom field called Alternate Email) to your Emma audience, you would use these steps:
- Create two Salesforce reports containing the fields you need to map to Emma custom fields. Be sure to include the Salesforce Contact ID and one of the email addresses (e.g., Email on one report and Alternate Email on the other).
- Create two import wizards. The first should map the Email field; the second, Alternate Email. On both wizards, map the contact Id to the Salesforce ID field in Emma (remember: we create this for you.)
