Creating Leads and Contacts from Emma Audience Members
The "Create Lead" or "Create Contact" feature in Emma for Salesforce create records for all Emma audience members, regardless of their status. The integration does not filter out members based on their Emma status (active, error, opt-out, or archived). It will check to see if a matching contact or lead already exists using the standard Salesforce email field.
How it works:
- No Status Filtering: When you configure
ACTION_CREATE_LEADorACTION_CREATE_CONTACTon an Emma account, the sync process retrieves all members from the Emma audience without applying status filters - Duplicate Prevention: The integration checks Salesforce by email address to determine if a Lead or Contact already exists before creating new records
- Status Syncing: While the integration doesn't filter members, it does sync their Emma status to Salesforce:
- Members with opt-out status will have the Salesforce "Email Opt Out" field set to true
- Members with error status can also set "Email Opt Out" to true if the setting "Also use the 'Error' state to set the Salesforce 'Email Opt' field" is enabled
- All Statuses Included: This means leads/contacts can be created for:
- ✅ Active members
- ✅ Error members (invalid/bounced emails)
- ✅ Opt-out members (unsubscribed)
- ✅ Archived members (if they appear in the Emma API response)
