Can a subscriber list membership record be linked to both a contact and a lead?

The short answer is yes.  When we create a subscriber list membership record in Salesforce we check to see if a lead or contact can be found using the standard email address field.  If we find matching contact and lead records the subscriber list membership record will be linked to both. If there is more than one matching contact or lead we will link to the most recently modified record.
