Why use the Import wizard vs Subscriber rules?

Below is a table of key differences between the import wizard and subscriber rules. We recommend using the import wizard when possible.

Import wizard

• Works with any Salesforce object or combination of objects.
• You can import any email field.
• Includes field mappings for all included fields.
• Can run every hour of every day.
• Runs as a specified user, making tight security and sharing easier.
• Avoids conflicts with your other automations on contact or leads by running in batches.

Subscriber rules

• Only works with contacts and leads.
• Limited to the standard email field.
• Can be combined with field mappings (no separate mapping per rule).
• Runs as user who triggered the rule, so you must ensure they have the proper object and record access, as well as our permission set.
• Triggers instantly, so you must consider how it will interact with other automation.
