Why can’t I map a field?

There are a few common reasons why a field may not be available for mapping between Salesforce and Campaign Monitor:

  1. The field is already mapped

Each field can only be mapped once. If it’s already in use, it won’t appear as an option.

Next step: Review your current mappings to check if the field has already been used. If so, you’ll need to unmap it before reassigning.

  2. Incompatible data types

The field type in Campaign Monitor must match the field type in Salesforce (e.g., text to text, number to number). If they don’t align, mapping isn’t possible.

Next step: Compare the data types of the fields in both systems. If needed, create a new Salesforce field with a compatible type.

  3. Field limit reached

Campaign Monitor enforces a limit of 50 mapped fields per subscriber list. If you’ve reached this cap, no additional mappings can be added.

Next step: Review your existing mapped fields and remove any that aren’t essential. If you need more than 50 fields, contact Campaign Monitor support to ask about increasing this limit.
