Is it possible to have more than one membership record for the same Salesforce record?
A single Salesforce record (such as a Contact or Lead) can have multiple membership records. This is because:
-
Multiple Audiences:
An individual can belong to more than one audience. Each membership represents their relationship to a different audience.
-
Multiple Email Addresses:
A person might also belong to the same audience more than once if they are associated with different email addresses. For example, they might use a work email for one subscription and a personal email for another, creating separate memberships tied to the same underlying Salesforce record.
Examples
-
Scenario 1: Jane Doe is a member of both the “Webinars” and “Events” audiences — she has two membership records.
-
Scenario 2: Jane Doe registers twice for the “Events” audience using two different email addresses — she has two separate membership records for the same audience.
